Group aims to remove prairie dogs from town

CLOVIS, N.M. —A New Mexico town is moving hundreds of prairie dogs out of the state.
Members of the Clovis City Commission approved relocating 200-300 prairie dogs to Mitchell County, Texas.

A group called Citizens for Prairie Dogs has until Feb. 1 to complete the task of removing the dogs from area parks.

This past year, the city poisoned hundreds of prairie dogs at a local park at the request of nearby farmers, according to the Albuquerque Journal. Those actions snagged national attention.
