Andy Murray joins WWF's new sniffer dog campaign

Top tennis player and 2013 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has become a Global Ambassador for WWF.

In particular he is working with the charity to raise awareness and crucial funds for their new sniffer dog programme launching in Nepal.

The WWF is focussing on Nepal because as well as being home to some of the most iconic (and most trafficked) species in the world including tigers, rhinos and elephants, it is also long been a transit route for illegal wildlife products. Seizures of wildlife parts mainly rhino horn, tiger parts, skins of red panda and other big cats have been made in recent years.

Sniffer dogs can help considerably to bring poachers to justice as when poachers are caught one of the biggest obstacles is locating the evidence, as often guns and traps are hidden in the forests.
